Welcome to 3D TVs, a guide to the new 3D TVs that are set to revolutionise
TV viewing as we know it. The latest HD TVs have a wonderful picture quality
but the images are all very two dimensional, can you imagine having the images
come out of the television and looking so real that you could almost touch
them?
3D TVs are going to be released in 2010 with top brands such as Sony, Samsung,
Panasonic and Toshiba leading the race to release the first 3D TVs. At first
they will require special 3D glasses but they are very stylish and comfortable
and well worth it when you see the mind-blowing image that is coming from your
new 3D TV.
As well as buying the television you will also need some 3D content and this
will be available from a few different sources. Sky are going to have some
3D channels and will have a full 3D service for customers in 2010 and there
will also be 3D Blu ray players that you can buy to enjoy the latest 3D movies.
Later on there should be equipment capable of upscaling standard 2D content
into the 3D format for display on the new 3D televisions.
So you may be wondering how the 3D image is created and it is quite simple
really. The content is shot with two cameras which are close together, very
much like two eyes, and then the 3D TV converts this into a single image that
with the glasses you will see as a 3D image.
And you may also be wondering if all this new technology is even necessary
as 3D has been possible for a long time with the colour filtered glasses. It
very much is though as the old 3D picture was very poor and you could not watch
it for very long, with these new 3D televisions you get a pristine HD picture
that is seen in 3D and so it looks very good and is also comfortable to watch.
So 3D TVs are set to be huge in the next few years and there will also be 3D
content such as Sky and Blu Ray available soon. The TVs are sure to be very
expensive when they are launched but like all new technology the prices will
drop quite quickly and so you should be enjoying breath-taking 3D quality in
your lounge soon.
